It's about . . .
Communication
Sometimes it's simple . . . you want your file server running again.
Other times, the desired results are specific to your business. In
either case, there are two imperatives:
-
First, that we understand what you need. This is
primarily our responsibility.
-
Second, that we document what we did. Someone else may
need to know what when wrong and how it was fixed or how that mail server
is setup.
Your computers, your money, your business, your choice.

It's about . . .
Consistency
Variation costs money. It makes things harder to troubleshoot,
harder to document and harder to manage. Whether you have 2 PC's or 1000
servers, you can benefit from the efficiencies inherent in centralized
management and standardized methods.
If you're PC's aren't running the same operating system or your routers
aren't using the same protocol, or your servers don't have the same service
packs, good luck trying to identify the problem.

It's about . . .
Simplicity
The computer world is full of really cool new technologies.
Unfortunately, they don't always work. It's called the bleeding edge.
Occasionally there is a true need for them; necessity is the mother of
invention, after all. But most of the time the stable, time-tested
solution is the best value.
Many organizations lose sight of the fact that their information
systems exist only to serve a business purpose. A given system therefore
becomes obsolete when the cost of maintaining the system exceeds its business
value. By that token, the brand new but unreliable system may be obsolete
at its inception.
